So... Hiranthi was eliminated from Australia's Next Top Model last night.

Why didn't she give Lara a really bad haircut for shaving off her eyebrow?

I would have.

So... I just cast my vote in Triple J's Hottest 100.
It took me about an hour to come up with my top ten songs of 2005.The most overrated album of 2005 (for me) was 'Silent Alarm' by Bloc Party.

1. Call on Me - Red Riders
2. Modern Way - Kaiser Chiefs
3. Tokyo - Dead Frenchman
4. Walk Away - Franz Ferdinand
5. The Coast is Always Changing - Maximo Park
6. Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
7. Dance me In - Sons and Daughters
8. Jumpers - Sleater Kinney
9. Always worth It - Sarah Blasko
10. F*** Forever - Babyshambles

So...yesterday I picked up my ticket to the Weekender NYE show from Polyester records, and who should I meet on my way out, none other than Funny man Mr Alan Brough. I told him I watched Spicks and Specks, thought he was very clever and it must be a fun show to work on. His face lit up, perhaps he doesn't get approached by fans often. He asked me what I was doing for New Years. Apparently his friend Andy is dj-ing at some point tonight at Ding Dong. I informed him I was going to see Telecom, he hadn't heard of them. He knows Riff Random, I told him Blake was in RR but is now drumming for Telecom.

Alan is entertaining, drinking a few bottles of wine and having an early night. hehe. Found myself staring into his lovely green eyes while we were chatting. It wasn't until I was on the tram that I realised how creepy I must have seemed to him, kinda like when Sharon played his love interest in Kath and Kim. Only we didn't talk about Warney.

I actually enjoyed Christmas this year, perhaps because I didn't have to tolerate Jason's moodiness. hehe. We had a delicious bbq lunch; salmon steaks with a dill and mustard sauce, scallops, prawns, and salads. I made cous cous as well as an almond semi-freddo desert. It was simply too hot for turkey and over boiled vegetables. My parents gave me an ipod for Christmas. I like that it's lightweight and rather stylish, but I'm I fear I now assume an affected trendy demeanor, suppose I'll blend in at uni. Speaking of uni, I received my second letter of recommendation from the english department. I must say I'm dreading the classes I've selected, would much rather be taking up the reading seminar.

Does anyone reading this watch Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby?

So...On monday Kalinda and I went to the Nova cinema to see Thumbsucker. We were so looking forward to seeing it, both Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton gave it thumbs up. But we had to see another film because my double pass wasn't valid (who knew monday was a discount day?) We decided on Everything is Illuminated. The film is based on Jonathan Saffron Foer's novel of the same name, I'd read an article in the Age a while back and his book is on my summer reading list. It's a wonderful film, Liev Schreiber has certainly sealed pathos and eccentric humour in a ziplock bag. Eugene Hutz is outstanding as Alex a reluctant Ukranian guide and translator for Jonathan played by Elijah Wood. Jonathan, or 'Jonafan', as he is refered to by Alex, obsessively collects and catalogues mementos once owned by family members. He sets off to trace his grandfather's steps and is confronted with the horrors of war along the way.

The following exchange made me laugh:

Jonathan: I'm a vegetarian.
Alex: You are a what?
Jonathan: I don't eat meat.
Alex: Pork?
Jonathan: No.
Alex: Chickens?
Jonathan: No!
Alex: What about the sausage?
Jonathan: No meat!
Alex: What is wrong with you?

Alex: All the ladies are wanting to get carnal with me because of my premium dance moves.
